Last night, the walls of celebrity social media came tumbling down. First it was Nicki vs. Taylor Swift, then Perez Hilton started throwing shots at Beyonce and THEN Meek Mill decided to put Drake on blast via Twitter.
Stop comparing drake to me too…. He don’t write his own raps! That’s why he ain’t tweet my album because we found out! 😁
— Meek Mill (@MeekMill) July 22, 2015
First of all, WHO EVER COMPARED MEEK TO DRAKE? No one. Ever. On a scale of 1 to Drake…Meek doesn’t even place! But beyond that, this allegation took everyone by surprise. We as Drake fans, and listeners of hip hop had to process this information. The rap genre is heavily based on your ability to write your own music. Hip hop has always structured it’s songs on personal life experiences that only the rapper can convey. So when Meek Mill outed Drake’s “ghost writer,” Quentin Miller, Twitter had no choice but to respond.
Amen and Rico both would’ve been skipped songs if Drake wasn’t on them hoes

Due to my strong bias towards Drake I had to prove to myself that Meek was wrong based on what we know about Drake’s music and not based on my personal loyalty. When you piece together all of Drake’s work from So Far Gone to If You’re Reading This, you’ve seen his personal progression as a rapper, you know his weaknesses and all of his strengths. Drake has based part of his musicality on pushing way past personal in terms of his lyrics. Just like any art form, Hip hop ceases to exist without one taking a bite from another.
Basically, what I am saying is I do believe Drake writes his own music (he’s even been known to write for other artist) I also believe that every now and then he may draw inspiration from other contributors. The real issue here isn’t even about Drake’s penmanship, there’s some real tea we’re missing as to why Meek went off on Twitter Last night? What did Drake do to you Meeky Millz? Was he hitting up your girl Nicki or what?
In the meantime, let me offer some wise words to Mr. Mill… maybe you should invest in a ghost writer to further your career…because I’m tired of hearing you scream, “Hold up wait a minute…”
Just to validate everything I said…These are Noah “40” Shebib’s (Drake’s producer) thoughts…
No one can question my involvement in drakes career. We have come a long way together. So let me start by putting something into perspective — Noah Shebib (@OVO40) July 23, 2015
I can’t count the hours that myself and drake have spent writing producing and recording music. Let’s just say… 5000 hours…
— Noah Shebib (@OVO40) July 23, 2015
I’ve spent maybe 30 min in a studio with Q. Nice enough guy, very talented…

Theres countless number ones and songs drake has written for others never mind himself, thats the funny part lol!
— Noah Shebib (@OVO40) July 23, 2015
